Adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare has nearly doubled from 2023 to 2024, according to an American Medical Association (AMA) survey, with 66% of physicians using it in some way. While physicians are especially using AI for automating documentation, reducing administrative tasks and improving patient care, a number of barriers to broader adoption were identified. These include a need for increased regulatory oversight, better data privacy assurances and comprehensive training and education. Despite this, sentiment toward AI use among physicians is generally positive.
