Infostealers Aimed At MacOS Surges

MacOS-targeted information-stealing malware spiked by 101% in the latter half of 2024, making up most of macOS’s malware that year. Despite their limited capacity, these malware, led by Poseidon, Atomic, and Cthulhu, have honed data theft capabilities, according to Palo Alto Networks Unit 42. Threat actors increasingly exploit AppleScript in payload development, challenging the perceived superior security of macOS and underscoring the necessity for vigorous endpoint security measures.
