Apple Removed Apps Infested With Screen Reading Malware

Kaspersky reported the discovery of “SparkCat” malware in some iOS apps. Apple subsequently removed 11 infested apps from the App Store and found another 89 with the same code that had been previously rejected or removed for fraud. The malware, suspected of targeting iOS users in Europe and Asia, can access user images and screenshots to seek out sensitive information such as crypto wallet recovery phrases and passwords.
