Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has revealed a malware operation called SparkCat which infects apps and searches for crypto recovery phrases on users’ phones. The apps were downloaded 242,000 times and were disguised as food delivery apps, chatbots, and other innocuous software. Kaspersky did not disclose how much was stolen through SparkCat. Mainly users in Europe and Asia were targeted.
