Credential Theft Becomes Cybercriminals’ Favorite Target

Analysis of over one million malware pieces collected in 2024 has shown that 25% targeted user credentials, tripling the figures from 2023. The report from Picus Security indicates cybercriminals are increasingly focusing on complex, multi-stage attacks using next-generation malware, known as “SneakThief,” designed for stealth, persistence, and automation. However, the study found no evidence of AI-driven malware use.
