The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning over cybersecurity vulnerabilities in patient monitors from Chinese device manufacturer, Contec, and US firm Epsimed. The vulnerabilities allegedly enable unauthorised users to stop monitors from functioning correctly, potentially compromising vital patient data. The FDA has advised healthcare providers to minimise usage reliant on remote monitoring, and has recommended devices be disconnected from the internet. There is currently no software patch to mitigate the vulnerabilities.
