New Aquabotv3 botnet malware targets Mitel command injection flaw

Security experts at Akamai have discovered a new variant of the Mirai-based botnet malware, called Aquabotv3, that exploits a command injection flaw in Mitel SIP phones. The variant is believed to be unique, since it reports back to the command-and-control server when termination signals are detected. The malware attempts to spread to other IoT devices while using brute force for initial access.
