Indian healthcare sector most targeted by cyberattacks, followed by education: Report, ET CISO

Indian healthcare suffered the most cyberattacks, with 8,614 per week per organisation, in the last six months, reports Check Point Software. In the same period, organisations across India suffered on average 3,291 weekly attacks compared to the global average of 1,847. The most common malware types were identified as two Remote Access Trojans, an infostealer botnet, and fake updates. Additionally, generative AI was increasingly being used in attacks. Over 70% of infected devices were personal, with IT infrastructure also targeted. Global cyberattacks rose 44% on the previous year.
