Stealthy ‘Magic Packet’ malware targets Juniper VPN gateways

Juniper edge devices have been specifically targeted by a malware campaign named J-magic, which activates a backdoor only when a “magic packet” is detected in network traffic. This largely undetectable method allows the hackers to maintain long-term, low-detection access to the systems. The sectors targeted include semiconductor, energy, and manufacturing (including marine, solar panels, and heavy machinery), as well as IT.
