Synnovis cyber attack caused two cases of severe patient harm

Two patients suffered severe health damage due to a cyber attack on NHS pathology provider Synnovis that disrupted NHS services in 2024. Initially, the NHS reported five cases of moderate harm and 114 of low harm. However, Bloomberg News reveals data suggesting two incidents of severe harm, 11 of moderate and over 120 of low harm. An estimated financial loss of £32.7m was reported, while patient data leakage is also being investigated.
