Researchers at Cyfirma have linked a malicious Android app posing as a chat platform to the Indian Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group, DONOT. The group uses the app, named “Tanzeem” and “Tanzeem Update”, to extract sensitive data including call logs, text messages, location data, and external storage. The app is believed to target specific individuals and groups in South Asia, and signifies a deepening threat to cybersecurity in the region.
