Hackers Attacking Exploited Thousands of PHP-Based Web Applications to Deploy Malware

Hackers are exploiting vulnerabilities in PHP-based web applications, particularly targeting Indonesian online gambling platforms. The attacks, originating from Python-based bots, have planted malware on compromised servers worldwide to provide landing pages for illegal online gambling. To maintain access after removal of initial backdoors, GSocket network toolkits have been installed, enabling remote connections. Website owners are urged to check for unauthorised modifications, implement robust security, utilise Web Application Firewalls, and monitor for unauthorised access.
