EU launches action plan for cybersecurity in healthcare

The European Commission has proposed an EU-wide action plan to protect the healthcare sector from cyber threats. This includes establishing a center within the EU cybersecurity agency, ENISA, to aid healthcare organizations and initiating cybersecurity training for health professionals. Although no additional funding is planned, EU countries have been encouraged to help and support small healthcare companies through cybersecurity vouchers. The Commission also encourages ransom payment reporting. A public consultation on the plan is expected.
