U.S. authorities have remotely deleted China-backed malware, called PlugX, from over 4,000 computers worldwide through a court-approved operation. Chinese hackers, known as “Mustang Panda”, were allegedly paid by the People’s Republic of China to create the malware, which collected personal data from infected computers. The operation was led by French law enforcement and cybersecurity firm Sekoia.io.
