Cybersecurity firm Check Point has issued a warning over new malware, called Banshee, targeting macOS users and stealing sensitive information. The malware initially surfaced on Russian cybercrime marketplaces and uses sophisticated string encryption, mirroring Apple’s XProtect antivirus engine. Check Point updated its detection rules to assist in shutting down the malware operation but reiterates the importance of not clicking links from unknown sources and keeping antivirus protection up to date.
