Gayfemboy Botnet targets Four-Faith router vulnerability

Gayfemboy, a variant of the Mirai botnet, is exploiting vulnerabilities in routers and smart home devices to launch DDoS attacks. The botnet was first identified in February 2024 and has since integrated N-day and 0-day exploits, affecting over 15,000 daily active nodes. The botnet’s operators predominately target China, the U.S., Iran, Russia, and Turkey, launching short but intense DDoS attacks against domains registered for analysis. Despite the botnet’s evolution, its lax protection efforts have been highlighted.
