A bipartisan group in the US Senate proposed a bill in late 2024 to impose new cybersecurity requirements on healthcare organizations. The Health Care Cybersecurity and Resiliency Act of 2024 is aimed at strengthening cybersecurity in healthcare and protecting Americans’ health data. It also encourages proactive risk management by healthcare providers, irrespective of whether the legislation passes. It includes directives for HHS to collaborate with CISA, mandatory reporting of cybersecurity incidents by healthcare entities, and offers resources to improve cyber hygiene.
