The University of Florida is developing a training program that uses AI-powered avatars to teach nursing students how to communicate effectively with patients. Using virtual reality and simulation technology, the program evaluates the students’ empathy, diagnostic skill and questions, while providing real-time advice. Additionally, a pre-established situation allows nursing students to collaborate with dental students, whose resulting patient care plans are assessed by faculty.
