Iranian nation-state hacking group Charming Kitten has reportedly deployed a C++ variant of known malware BellaCiao. Cybersecurity company Kaspersky uncovered the version (dubbed BellaCPP) during an investigation of a compromised machine in Asia. BellaCiao was originally identified by Bitdefender and used in cyber attacks against the US, Middle East, and India. Unlike its predecessor, BellaCPP does not use web shell functionality to upload and download files or run commands.
