Daniel Christian Hulea, an alleged affiliate of NetWalker ransomware, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for extorting $21.5m in Bitcoin. In addition to serving time, Hulea has been ordered to forfeit $21.5m, pay nearly $15m in restitution, and surrender his interest in a luxury Indian resort. His arrest follows a joint operation by US and European law enforcement in 2021 to dismantle the NetWalker ring.
