A malicious BMI calculator app on Amazon’s Appstore, revealed by McAfee, could have recorded users’ screens and SMS messages to steal private data and apps list, but a coding error prevented any data being sent. The app has been removed, but users downloading apps are reminded to deny permission requests that are unrelated to the app’s purpose, to prevent potential malicious data harvesting.
