Operational technology (OT) and Industrial control systems (ICS) are increasingly being targeted by malware through engineering workstations. New malware has been developed to target Siemens systems in particular, with existing malware also found on Mitsubishi workstations. Researchers suggest these attacks account for more than 20% of OT cybersecurity incidents and recommend appropriate protection, network segmentation, and threat monitoring to mitigate risk.
