Google, Amnesty International uncover new surveillance malware

Google and Amnesty International researchers have discovered a new type of surveillance malware, called ‘NoviSpy,’ which was used by Serbian police to monitor a journalist. The tool was unlocked using an offering from Cellebrite, exhibiting evidence of misuse contrary to the company’s stated policies. The investigators noted the malware exploit represents a real-world example of the negative effects of poor third-party vendor driver security.
