Mobile device security firm iVerify has detected the prolific Pegasus malware, developed by NSO Group, in at least seven of 2,500 devices scanned by its users. While traditionally employed to targeted attacks against specific individuals, iVerify found Pegasus was also infecting business leaders, people in government positions, and others, signifying a spread of usage across different sectors. iVerify’s tool uses malware signature-based detection, heuristics, and machine learning to identify possible infections. The tool is included in iVerify’s $1 Basics app, which provides a free monthly scan.
