8 Million Android Users Hit by SpyLoan Malware in Loan Apps on Google Play

McAfee Labs has identified over a dozen malicious Android apps on the Google Play Store, collectively downloaded over 8 million times, that contain the SpyLoan malware. These apps trick users into providing sensitive information and granting extra app permissions that could result in extortion, harassment, and financial loss. Despite attempts to halt the operation of SpyLoan apps, new operators and cybercriminals continue to exploit the fraud activities, indicating a common developer or a shared framework.
