Free, France’s second-largest telecoms company, confirms being hit by cyberattack

French internet service provider Free confirmed a data breach after attempted sales of allegedly stolen customer information surfaced on a cybercrime forum. While Free has not confirmed the extent of the breach, one cybercriminal claimed to have stolen two databases affecting more than 19 million customers. The company assured that passwords, card details and user communications were unaffected. It has filed a criminal complaint and alerted the national cybersecurity agency.
