A dangerous malware campaign known as PixPirate has been predominantly targeting users in Brazil and India with infections also spreading to Italy and Mexico. The malware poses as a legitimate authentication application, prompting users to install an “updated version,” which is actually the full PixPirate malware. This allows it to gain complete access to the victim’s device, steal user information and spread via WhatsApp. Other capabilities include financial fraud, SMS interception, device activity recording, and anti-detection techniques.
