Protecting Your Child from HFM Disease

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a viral illness in children under five that has been a significant health concern in Malaysia. It’s highly contagious and caused by different strains of enteroviruses. HFMD can result in severe complications, including dehydration. To prevent its spread, proper hygiene practices, adequate hydration, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is necessary. Children suffering from HFMD may feel isolated and anxious due to required quarantine. Recurrent infections are possible and help immunity development, but reinfection risk remains due to virus strain variance.
