A “major incident” has been declared by the NHS Trust responsible for a group of hospitals in northwest England due to a cyberattack. The online records of the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have been temporarily inaccessible and outpatient appointments cancelled in the meantime. The incident comes in the wake of several cyber attacks this year on the UK’s health service, some of which resulted in the cancellation of operations and leaks of patient data.
