Chinese Hackers Use GHOSTSPIDER Malware to Hack Telecoms Across 12+ Countries

The Chinese hacking group known as Earth Estries has been linked to attacks on South East Asian telecommunication firms using the previously undiscovered backdoor, GHOSTSPIDER. The group, also known as FamousSparrow, GhostEmperor, and Salt Typhoon, has reportedly compromised at least 20 entities in over a dozen countries including the US, India, and Taiwan. Their attacks highlight China’s advancing cyber activity, which has reportedly shifted to longer-term targeting and bulk data collection.
