President-Elect Donald Trump nominated Martin A. Makary, a surgeon and public policy researcher from the Johns Hopkins University, as the next Commissioner of the FDA. Makary has appeared to question the mandates for vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, and has criticised the existing medical establishment. Trump also nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a critic of the FDA, as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
