Johns Hopkins surgeon Makary is Trump’s pick to lead FDA

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated surgeon Marty Makary from Johns Hopkins University to head the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Makary, a specialist in pancreatic surgery, has published extensively on numerous health topics and has previously expressed critiques of broad vaccine mandates. As FDA commissioner, he would oversee agency operations including assessing new drugs and overseeing the safety and quality of food products.
