Gen reports surge in ransomware & mobile threats

Gen’s Q3 Threat Report has revealed significant increases in ransomware and mobile banking threats. Ransomware payments reached a global high of $460m in 2024, due, in part, to vulnerabilities in outdated software. The report saw a 614% rise in “Scam-Yourself Attacks”, a 39% increase in data stealing malware activity and a growing risk from ransomware threats. The increase in mobile threats was also alarming, with spyware incidents up by 166% and banking malware by 60%.
