Chinese advanced persistent threat (APT) “Gelsemium” has altered its decade-old backdoors, Wolfsbane and Firewood, to now focus on Linux systems, versus their original design to infiltrate Windows systems. This rise in Linux-related cyber threats corresponds with increasing adoption of Linux for organizational server needs. Linux-targeted malware infections now account for 32% of all infections, and security experts anticipate this number to rise.
