Cyber criminals are using Spotify, a popular music streaming platform, to distribute spam, malware, pirated software, and video game cheat codes, according to cybersecurity researcher Karol Paciorek. This is achieved via playlist and podcast descriptions on the platform, which are easily indexed by search engines, allowing the hackers to promote malicious links. Spotify has since taken action against these practices, but piracy remains a significant problem on the platform.
