Synnovis attack led to at least five cases of ‘moderate’ patient harm

The cyber attack on NHS pathology provider Synnovis in June 2024 led to at least 119 incidents of patient harm, including five cases of “moderate” harm. The attack disrupted London healthcare services, causing at least 11,862 outpatient appointments and elective procedures to be postponed. Of the 498 patient safety incidents linked to the attack, 114 were deemed to cause low harm. There are also 91 related incidents currently under review.
