The Act calls for increased security measures for HIPAA Covered Entities and Business Associates, including ongoing risk assessments and audits, new penalties for non-compliance, and incentives for adopting improved cybersecurity practices. It would bring a new enforcement and oversight structure, drastically different from the current HIPAA regulations.
