Internet Archive hacked, data breach impacts 31 million users

The Internet Archive’s “The Wayback Machine” has experienced a data breach, with an authentication database including 31 million unique records being compromised. The event was announced via a JavaScript alert on the archive.org site. The theft was confirmed by Troy Hunt, the creator of the Have I Been Pwned data breach notification service. It’s unclear how the breach occurred. Meanwhile, the Internet Archive has also experienced a DDoS attack by the BlackMeta hacktivist group.
