Research from Forescout Technologies identified 162 vulnerabilities in connected medical devices; the study also reveals that the most vulnerable devices are Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) workstations, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), pump controllers, and medical information systems. This highlights the growing risk from Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices and points to their potential for disrupting healthcare operations, jeopardising patient safety, and exposing sensitive patient data. It’s noteworthy that hacking led to most data breaches in 2023, with 595 incidents reported.
