ESET, a Slovakian antivirus provider, has confirmed that it was targeted by hackers who sent phishing emails to customers under the ESET brand. The hackers exploited an Israeli partner company to aid in the attack which used malware designed to wipe all data from PCs. Initial investigations suggest that only a limited malicious email campaign was initiated and was blocked within ten minutes.
