Here’s how SIM swap in alleged bitcoin pump-and-dump scheme worked

Eric Council Jr. is accused of being part of a group that artificially inflated the value of bitcoin for profits, using a fake SEC decision. Council allegedly executed a SIM swap to control a phone number receiving two-factor authentication codes for an SEC account. After publicizing the false decision, his group sold large amounts of bitcoin acquired cheaply.
