New Linux variant of FASTCash malware targets financial systems

Cybersecurity researcher HaxRob has discovered a new Linux variant of the FASTCash malware, used by North Korea-linked actors to target financial systems. Previously undetected, this malware variant primarily targets Ubuntu 22.04 LTS distributions. Previous versions have siphoned millions of dollars from ATMs in Asia and Africa since 2016. Importantly, the Linux variant carries key functionalities from its prior Windows version, intercepting declined transactions and authorising them with random funds.
