HHS files, then drops, its data-tracking lawsuit appeal

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services filed an appeal in the American Hospital Association v. Becerra lawsuit regarding online tracking tools, but quickly withdrew it. The American Hospital Association celebrated the decision, stating that it was a victory for their members. The lawsuit centered around the use of tracking pixels on hospital websites and mobile apps, with the AHA arguing that the OCR’s attempt to limit their use was unlawful and unwise. Multiple hospital associations and health systems supported the AHA in the lawsuit.
