The DoJ disrupted a global botnet operated by hackers backed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC), who were targeting Taiwan and other entities using IoT devices. The botnet was developed by Beijing-based Integrity Technology Group, also known as ‘Flax Typhoon.’ Despite attempts to interfere, the operation successfully disabled the botnet. Network defenders have been advised on how to mitigate such threats. The PRC’s actions, seen as a threat to national security, were openly condemned by various US officials.
