Cyberattacks on global healthcare organizations have risen significantly this year, according to data from Check Point Research (CPR). Weekly attacks on organizations have increased on average by 32%, particularly in North America and the Asia Pacific region. Most concerning is ransomware, which has paralyzed several institutions and puts patients’ health at risk while exposing privacy violations. CPR points to ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) infrastructures and significant returns on cyberattacks as key factors for increased cybercrime.
