Change Healthcare faces multiple class action lawsuits following a data breach. The suits allege that the company failed to protect customers’ personal and medical information. A motion to transfer was submitted to the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML), proposing that all complaints be consolidated for pretrial proceedings. In June 2024, the JPML consolidated the claims under one judge. The allegations against Change Healthcare include failing to respond to security alerts, encrypting data poorly, and inadequate communication about the breach.
