National Public Data (NPD), a data aggregator used by the likes of private investigators and staffing agencies, has disclosed a breach that potentially involves billions of personal records, including names, email addresses, and social security numbers. In April, a hacker known as USDoD claimed to be selling 2.9 billion personal records for $3.5 million. It is noted that while this is a significant breach, the quality, accuracy, and freshness of the data are in question.
