The English blood donor service has called for more donors, cautioning that stock levels are dangerously low due to a June cyberattack on Synnovis, a pathology services provider. Following the ransomware attack, NHS Blood and Transplant issued an amber alert, requesting hospitals to use O type blood and substitutions only when necessary. Affected hospitals include Guy’s and St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s, and the Royal Brompton.
