By implementing Epic’s Deterioration Index, which assesses patient data, demographic information, and lab results, RWJBarnabas has been able to identify at-risk patients. Since the tool’s systemwide launch in March, it is estimated to have saved around 100 lives. The tool also refreshes every 20 minutes, allowing for constant patient assessments.
