Humana pays $90M to settle whistleblower allegations of Medicare Part D fraud

Health insurer Humana is to pay $90 m to settle a lawsuit alleging the company fraudulently won Medicare prescription drug contracts from 2011 to 2017, by overcharging the government. It is the first settlement to resolve allegations of fraud in the contracting process. Humana denies the allegations but opted to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of a long jury trial.
